Hamilton Stem Academy Science Fair
Nationwide Energy Partners judge Hamilton Stem Academy’s annual science fair.
For the second year, Nationwide Energy Partners teamed up with Hamilton STEM Academy to judge its annual student science fair this week. Our executives, who served on the judging panel, heard presentations from students, grades three through six, on a wide range of projects. Some of our team’s favorite hypotheses included: does age affect memory, does the color of a drink change its perception, and does the size of a pumpkin affect the amount of seeds.
After hearing the presentations, the judges rated each presentation based on hypothesis, methodology, research, data presentation, presentation skills and conclusion.
“Our team was thrilled when Hamilton STEM asked us to judge again in this year’s fair. The presentations were truly energizing,” said Mike Palackdharry, president of NEP. “At NEP, we’re in the energy business to provide smart and innovative energy services to our customers. So, it’s vital that we support the pipelines that engage students in science, technology, engineering and math and prepare the next generation of talented employees for STEM careers.”
Vice president of marketing and strategy, Kit Hagen adds, “As Hamilton STEM works diligently to ensure its students excel in STEM fields, we, at NEP, are always excited to engage with Hamilton STEM’s students to help them understand how their education will translate into real-world opportunities.”
The engagement with Hamilton STEM Academy is a part of NEP’s Energize Columbus program. The community action initiative focuses on ensuring children have access to a variety of resources to stay active and energized. In addition to judging the annual science fair, NEP has partnered with Hamilton STEM Academy to revitalize the school’s playground and landscape and host energy sessions where students learn the basics of energy as well as conservation tips.
