NEP at Schiller Park

Members of Nationwide Energy Partners’ Energize Columbus organization volunteered to beautify the landscape around the Schiller Recreation Center at Schiller Park in German Village on Friday, September 23. The event was part of a larger project to beautify the various recreation centers across Columbus.

Fifteen volunteers spent the morning helping Mickey Hamilton, a professional horticulturist with the Columbus Department of Recreation and Parks, revitalize the landscaping surrounding the Schiller Recreation Center. Volunteers cleared overgrowth, pulled weeds, collected trash and laid new mulch around the trees at the entrance to the community center.

The Schiller Recreation Center’s mission is “to enrich the lives of our citizens”. The center provides valuable classes to children and adults alike, including homework help sessions and sports classes. Keeping the area around the recreation center clean and beautiful provides a safer environment for everyone in the community.

Started in 2013, Energize Columbus provides NEP employees with opportunities to give back to the Columbus community through volunteer programs, its partner schools, fundraising and other charitable contributions. The focus of Energize Columbus’ 2016 philanthropic efforts is green initiatives.
